Last updated: July 30, 2026

1. Overview

WeatherUpdateHub ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website weatherupdatehub.com and the mobile application "Weather: Live Forecast & Radar" (the "App"), available on both Google Play (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS).

We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data.

By using our website or App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these practices, please do not use our services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • City/Location preferences: The cities you search for or save for weather tracking.
  • Notification preferences: Your selected weather alert types (rain, storm, heat, cold, etc.) and temperature thresholds.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device identifiers: FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) token for delivering push notifications, and an anonymous user ID generated by our server.
  • Device information: Device model, operating system version (Android/iOS), app version, and screen resolution.
  • Network information: IP address (used for approximate geolocation fallback only).
  • Usage data: Pages/screens viewed, features used, and app interaction events (via Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics where applicable).

2.3 Location Data

We access your device's GPS location only with your explicit permission to provide accurate local weather forecasts. We store your last known latitude and longitude on our server so we can send you weather notifications even when the app is closed.

You can revoke location permission at any time through your device settings:

  • Android: Settings → Apps → Weather → Permissions → Location → Deny
  • iOS: Settings → Weather → Location → Never

2.4 Cookies and Tracking Technologies (Website)

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and functionality. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Weather forecasts: To fetch and display accurate weather data for your location and saved cities.
  • Push notifications: To send you weather alerts (rain, storm, heat, cold, snow, fog, wind) based on your preferences and current conditions.
  • App improvement: To analyze usage patterns, fix bugs, and develop new features.
  • Advertising: To display relevant ads via Google AdMob (see Section 6).
  • Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Communication: To respond to your support requests and feedback.

We do not use your data to build profiles for credit decisions, insurance assessments, or background checks.

4. Push Notifications

Our App uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver weather notifications to your device. To enable this feature, we collect and store the following:

  • FCM registration token: A unique identifier assigned by Google that allows us to send notifications to your specific device.
  • Your city and coordinates: Used to check weather conditions and send relevant alerts.
  • Notification preferences: The types of weather alerts you have enabled.

How to disable notifications:
Android: Settings → Apps → Weather → Notifications → Off
iOS: Settings → Weather → Notifications → Off
You can also disable specific alert types within the App's settings.

FCM tokens are managed by Google Firebase and are subject to Google's Firebase Privacy Policy.

5. Location Services

Location access is optional but recommended for the best experience. We use your location to:

  • Fetch real-time weather data for your current position
  • Send weather alerts relevant to your area
  • Display your local forecast on the home screen

We store your last known latitude and longitude on our server so we can continue to monitor weather and send notifications even when the app is not actively open. We do not track your real-time movements or build a location history.

Your location privacy options:

  • While Using App: Location is accessed only when the app is open (recommended).
  • Always: Location is accessed in the background for continuous weather monitoring (optional).
  • Never: No location data is collected. You can still search for cities manually.

6. Advertising

Our App displays advertisements using Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process certain data to serve ads, including:

  • Device identifiers (Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS)
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Device model, operating system, and language
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, conversions)

For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland: We use Google's Consent Management Platform to ask for your consent before serving personalized ads. You can change your consent choices at any time within the App.

Resetting your Advertising ID:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID / Opt out of Ads Personalization
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Personalized Ads → Off
